Dick’s Welding & Contracting LTD. (DWC) is proud to be a family owned and operated business. DWC was originally established in 1990 by Richard (Dick) Fairclough. Bringing a lifetime of experience in Welding and Oilfield Construction, Dick built the company based on the core values that DWC still supports today. Since the retirement of Dick, Sole ownership and operation has been obtained by Ric Fairclough who has further developed services to serve Central Alberta's Oil and Gas Industry.  DWC currently employs 30 full time employees, with a skill base that consists of Project Foremen, Mechanic's, Journeyman Welders, Journeyman Pipefitters, Journeyman Boom Truck Operators, Labourers , Equipment Operators, in addition to a Safety Coordinators.  

All DWC employees are safety orientated and possess First Aid, H2S Alive, TDG, WHIMIS, Fall Protection, Global Level II Ground Disturbance and Confined Space Certification. 

As the Oil and Gas industry has continually strived for higher standards of safety, DWC maintains a current Health and Safety Program and has achieved their Certificate of Recognition since 1998.

Our conveniently located fabrication and maintenance shop is located in the Acheson Industrial Park, allowing DWC to meet the demands of our customers both locally and areas throughout North Central Alberta.

Employee Bio


Ric Fairclough

With a total of 28 years of experience,  Ric was introduced to the oil and gas industry when he started working for the family business back in 1990. After five years with DWC, Ric spent two years operating the Chevron Acheson Alberta gas processing facility then an additional two years operating the ATCO Midstream Golden Spike gas processing facility. This experience has allowed Ric to gain intimate knowledge of the inner workings of a gas processing facility. He also spent one year running onsite N2 generating equipment for Under Balance Horizontal Drilling Practices where he also gained a vast knowledge of down hole operations. In 2000, Ric returned to DWC to take the position of Field Foreman. In 2005 he purchased the assets from his father Richard (Dick) Fairclough and now Ric is the owner operator of DWC.
